5 年Solid, proactive skill development here.? Unfortunately, in critical incidents, we never "rise to the occasion."? We only "rise to the level of our training."? Predetermined actions are simply essential to overcoming the adrenaline dump during critical incidents.?? Folks, this is great training and just good government involvement in the process.? Kudos DCJS and the training cadre!

5 年I can’t agree more with everything you’ve posted on this issue. As a career firefighter/paramedic, I’ve seen the life-saving value of civilian preparedness for hemorrhage control. Earlier in my career, I responded to a medical incident where a father saved his sons life from a femoral bleed using good “dirt medicine” skills he obtained in his adult life. How he was prepared to have the mindset to act and intervene I won’t ever know, but I do know, that the time it took for the call to be processed, out unit to be dispatched, and our time to respond could have been far too long for this young got to survive, considering our initial intervention was tourniquet application. Without his fathers quick reaction and well-aimed direct pressure, he may not have survived. These skills aren’t just applicable in the workplace and for hostile active attack events. CRCC prepares the public to not only have the correct skills to apply in an incident, but also to have the mindset to act. Community risk reduction at its best shouldn’t end with Stop the Bleed training. The approach from CRCC ensures civilians are prepared with the mindset AND technical skills to intervene, which is the difference between those who can and those who will.
