Here's The Truth - You Are Gifted!
Did you know you are talented?
Or has someone told you, 'You're not talented.'
If someone tells you you're not talented or shoots you down,
Remember what Hugh MacLeod said
Good ideas alter the power balance in relationships, that is why good ideas are always initially resisted.*
In other words, many of your friends and co-workers don't want you to change so don't expect them to support you. If anything, expect them to shoot your ideas down. That is why Hugh MacLeod, wrote the book, Ignore Everybody.
If you're looking for more inspiration, watch The Pursuit of Happyness. The quote below comes from the movie.
If you don't know what your talent is,
Consider these words of wisdom from the famous cartoonist, Cathy Guisewhite.
Take the classes, the friends, and the family that have inspired the most in you. Save them in your permanent memory and make a backup disk. When you remember what you love, you will remember who you are. If you remember who you are, you can do anything.
If a couple weeks later you still don't know your gift(s), you're in good company. It took me about 25 years to learn all of my gifts.
One of the best investments I ever made was StrengthsFinder 2.0
The father of Strengths Psychology, Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D, along with Tom Rath and a team of scientists at The Gallup Organization, created StrengthsFinder. You can take this assessment by purchasing the StrengthsFinder 2.0 book.[1]
Because I took the assessment, I've learned that I have these strengths,
- “I can see repercussions more clearly than others can.”
- “I automatically pinpoint trends, notice problems, or identify opportunities many people overlook."
- “I entertain ideas about the best ways to…increase productivity.”
- “I entertain ideas about the best ways to…solve a problem.”
- “Sorting through lots of information rarely intimidates me. I welcome the abundance of information. Like a detective, I sort through it and identify key pieces of evidence. Following these leads, I bring the big picture into view.”
- “My quest to interpret events, grasp facts, or understand concepts appears limitless…Discovering new ways to use my talents energizes me.”
I've used these strengths to write my first book and plan on writing additional books.
If you're looking for more than an assessment,
Try Strengths Launcher. Strengths Launcher was created to help people discover, develop and focus their natural talents. For more info click here.

Clark Finnical is the author of Job Hunting Secrets (from someone who's been there), the first job hunting book written by a veteran job seeker.
Job hunting books were solely written by HR managers and recruiters in the past. Their books told you, ‘How to succeed in their world.' Because "Job Hunting Secrets" is written by a former job seeker, it’s like hiring a tour guide to help you navigate the complex path ahead of you.

Have you read these articles?
* Hugh MacLeod is the author of How To Be Creative. Here's an excerpt which expands on the concept above:
A big idea will change you. Your friends may love you, but they don?t want you to change. If you change, then their dynamic with you also changes. They like things the way they are, that?s how they love you—the way you are, not the way you may become. Ergo, they have no incentive to see you change. And they will be resistant to anything that catalyzes it.

[1] The link at the end of this footnote takes you to the Amazon site where you can purchase the SF 2.0 book as I did. When you purchase a new book you will receive an access code that enables you to access the online assessment. I took the test in 2013 and paid approximately $50.00 for the assessment. I also had to pay for the StrengthsFinder 2.0 book.
