Estrella TV’s Dynamic and Fast Paced Counter Programming Delivers Major Growth In Fall 2016 TV Season

Fastest growing minority owned Spanish language network delivers highest audience growth in Early Fringe among top four Hispanic networks

LBI Media, Inc., the fastest growing, minority owned Spanish language broadcasting company in the U.S. announced today that its Estrella TV Network continues delivering audience growth nationally among Hispanic Millennials and adults during the Fall 2016 television season.

Estrella TV Network has been betting on a counterprogramming strategy since its inception in 2009 before it was a trending topic among the top two Spanish language television networks, and was the first to offer Hispanic television viewers programming that is relevant, dynamic and made by Latinos for Latinos living in the US.

In a recent Nielsen National TV View report[1], Estrella TV delivered impressive growth across three major demos  (Adults 18-34 +60%, Adults 18-49 +31%, and  Adults 25-54 +21%) against its Spanish language broadcast network competitors during Early Fringe. Estrella TV delivered the highest audience growth in Early Fringe among the top four Spanish language television networks as compared to the same period in 2015.

Estrella TV has established itself as a leader in dynamic, fast-paced and innovative Spanish language television programming, and its growth across major adult demos in Early Fringe was driven by two of its highly popular shows iTestigo[2] and Tumba Burros[3]. iTestigo delivered ratings growth of +50% A18-34, +83% A18-49 and +89% A25-54, while Tumba Burros became a ratings success with +111% A18-34, +26% A18-49 and +23% A25-54 in its first year run during Q4 2016, as compared to same period in 2015.

Estrella TV was one of only two Spanish broadcast networks to deliver ratings growth in key demos. Estrella TV delivered Primetime growth among Millennials +2% and A18-49 +3% in Q4 2016, as compared to same period in previous year.[4]

The most impressive growth was with some of Estrella TV’s most dynamic and highest rated shows, such as Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento[5], which delivered 24% growth among Men18-34 and 3% growth among Men18-49; Noches Con Platanito[6], a late night talk show format, delivered growth across major adult demos in Q4 2016 vs. Q4 2015 +11% A18-34, +12% A18-49 and +9% A25-54. During this same period, among the coveted Hispanic Millennial demo, Rica Famosa Latina[7] experienced a +3% A18-34 and Boxeo Estelar[8] saw a ratings growth of +16% A18-34, +5% A18-49.

During the Fall 2016 TV season, Estrella TV’s innovative news programs AlarmaTV and Noticiero Cierre de Edición helped Estrella TV beat Unimas across all key demos from 10p-11p, Adults, Males and Females 18-34, 18-49, 25-49, 25-54.[9]

“Our continued growth among Hispanic television viewers across various demos is a strong validation of the precise creative direction and type of programming Estrella TV has been developing for the past seven years. We are encouraged by our continued growth and are confident in the programming model that we have developed, which caters to today’s Hispanic viewers living in the US,” stated Lenard Liberman, CEO, LBI Media, Inc., parent company to Estrella TV.
