If you're experiencing site freezing, a continual "Site Maintenance" message, slow loading or you see an IP address in your browser's URL box rather than https://www.dhirubhai.net, you may need to flush the Domain Name System (DNS) cache on your computer. You may also need to contact your Internet Service Provider to make sure that their central DNS servers are updated with changes that may have occurred with the linkedin.com IP address.
If you are attempting to access Linkedin.com from a corporate environment, please consult your local IT department before taking the steps below. Your local IT department may also need to make sure that their DNS servers have the latest updates.
To flush the DNS cache, choose an operating system.

Click the Microsoft Start logo in the bottom left.

Go to Run.

Type "cmd".

Type "ipconfig /flushdns" in the resulting command window.

Hit Enter on your keyboard.
- If you receive a flush failure message, contact your Internet service provider stating you cannot access a commonly accessed site.
- If you receive a successful DNS flush message, close all browser windows and then try accessing Linkedin.com again.

Right-click on Command Prompt.

Select Run as Administrator. Note: this option may be locked down by your local IT group.

- If you receive a successful DNS flush message, close all browser windows and then try accessing Linkedin.com again.

Run the "Terminal application".

Type "lookupd -flushcache".

Hit Enter on your keyboard.
- If you receive a flush failure message, contact your Internet service provider stating you cannot access a commonly accessed site.
- If you receive a successful DNS flush message, close all browser windows and then try accessing Linkedin.com again.

In Finder, navigate to Applications and then Utilities.

Type "dscacheutil -flushcache".

Hit Enter on your keyboard.
- If you receive a flush failure message, contact your Internet service provider stating you cannot access a commonly accessed site.
- If you receive a successful DNS flush message, close all browser windows and then try accessing Linkedin.com again.
Note: If flushing your DNS cache doesn't work, it's possible to reconfigure your computer to point to an alternate DNS service. This is only recommended for advanced users that have complete control over their computer network.
A few free DNS services like Google Public DNS or OpenDNS Basic (free to use with signup) are available for public use. We recommend reading all configuration instructions before attempting this change on your computer.
