The Billion Dollar Startup Playbook
Last week I shared the following presentation with my global sales team at our annual kickoff event. It speaks to the paradox and challenge of the successful startup. Changing the world requires growth and scale. Yet growth has the potential to strip any company of the magic, culture and nimbleness that made it successful in the first place. In 2013, my LinkedIn Talent Solutions team rallied around the idea of becoming something unique: a “Billion Dollar Startup.”
Our goal is to become a multi-billion dollar business that stays true to our startup roots without falling prey to slowness, cautiousness, rigidity, inertia… all the things that we despise. As a result, we devised nine rules to help our team navigate this phase of growth.
Between now and October, I’ll publish a post each month that digs deeper on each rule, so stay tuned. I'd love to hear your feedback or stories.
Credit to the LinkedIn Talent Solutions and Sales leadership teams for all of the wonderful feedback, and to my co-creator Brett Wallace (our Artist-in-Residence) for his masterful illustrations that brought the Billion Dollar Startup (BDS) story to life.

10 年This is the year you are starting the new because you need a base on the graphs in order to portray the next strategy on the road. The employees are the best factor to communicate with these policies that they may be functioning for the purpose of motivation.
Writing a humorous suspense novel and sitcom pilot.
10 年Wrapping the obvious in pretty illustrations doesn't add much. Producing content like this drives home that Linked In should stick to connecting people (which it does extremely well). Content quality on Linked In needs serious improvement. Most of it is unoriginal, superficial, and poorly written.
