Olivia Willis, Senior Director for Clean and Safe at Downtown Cleveland, Inc., received the Citizen Award from the Cleveland Police Foundation at the Third Annual Police District Community Relations Awards. She was recognized for her tireless work on the Downtown Cleveland Court Watch Program, which advocates for business owners and residents victimized by crime. This Downtown Cleveland program monitors over 80 court cases, ranging from quality-of-life violations to serious felony incidents. In collaboration with court administrators, prosecutors, and judges, Downtown Cleveland tracks individuals’ court dockets and attends relevant hearings to ensure that repeat offenders are not released back onto the streets. The program has successfully referred many individuals to mental health and other specialty dockets, resulting in court-mandated treatment and rehabilitation in place of incarceration. Thank you, Olivia, for your dedicated work to the safety and well-being of downtown!
