From the ashes, there are always signs of hope ?? The bravery and stoicism shown by the koalas and thousands of other animals affected by the bushfires is inspiring. Zoos Victoria vets are currently in Mallacoota and Bairnsdale at the request of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). Our role is going to be most needed in the coming weeks and months as we begin to provide veterinary support and ensure long-term care for bushfire impacted animals, including endangered species, such as supplementary feeding and habitat restoration in conjunction with DELWP, Parks Victoria and associated recovery teams.
