A highlight of the year gone by, ArbitralWomen and YAWP - Young ArbitralWomen Practitioners had the pleasure of hosting Ms.?Claudia Salomon,?president of the #ICC ICC Arbitration International Court of Arbitration, for an inspiring breakfast chat at The Leela Palace, New Delhi, on 13 November 2024.?? ? Following opening remarks from a leader for diversity in her own right, Hon'ble Justice Pratibha Singh of the Hon’ble Delhi High Court,?Avanti Bhati?(Partner, Osborne Partners Ltd) and?Manini Brar, FCIArB (Arbridge Chambers and YAWP Steering Committee Member) interviewed Claudia on her incredible journey as the first female president of the #ICC International Court of Arbitration, particularly the opportunities and challenges of leading such a global and diverse organisation. The interview began with an engaging?rapid-fire session, which revealed Claudia’s love for travel and favourite Indian dishes,?and sparked a lively interaction right up to the mixer breakfast at the end.?The attendees, including ArbitralWomen / YAWP - Young ArbitralWomen Practitioners and ICC Arbitration members, chatted away afterwards at the cosy venue overlooking a stunning view of the city of Delhi.?? ? The Third Edition is particularly special as it will be the first conference to open a line of events dedicated to celebrating 50 Years of VIAC. The focus will be on shaping the future of arbitration in CEE/SEE for the next 50 years. Balancing a career in international dispute resolution with the demands of parenthood can be challenging, especially if there is no one to turn to for advice or support. This programme aims to create a forum for members to share their concerns, experiences and tips on managing professional and parental commitments. Group discussions will take place quarterly by VC, in a relaxed format, and will be based on Chatham House rules. ?? Whether you are pregnant, on or returning from maternity leave or have school-age children, or even if you are not at that stage, we would like to hear from you. Meet Allison Torline, Counsel in Busse Disputes’ #internationalarbitration group based in #Frankfurt.?Allison is a member of the YAWP Steering Committee.? Allison specialises in international conflicts with an emphasis on commercial arbitration as well as investment treaty arbitration. Furthermore, she has particular experience with post-M&A disputes. Allison also acts as arbitrator as well as secretary to arbitral tribunals. She has extensive experience in international arbitration, including proceedings conducted under the ICC, ICSID, DIS and HKIAC rules in addition to UNCITRAL and other ad hoc proceedings. She is also well-versed in CISG-related disputes. She is a U.S. trained lawyer who is admitted to the New York bar. Allison says that being a member of ArbitralWomen has given her access to an impressive and generous community of experienced arbitrators, arbitration lawyers, and experts. While serving on the YAWP SC, Allison hopes to extend the group’s outreach and offerings to young practitioners. Meet Jae Hee Suh ???, Counsel in A&O Shearman’s #internationalarbitration practice group based in #Singapore.?Jae Hee is a member of the YAWP Steering Committee.? Jae Hee represents States and private clients in various sectors for investor-State and commercial arbitrations under the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, and LCIA Rules. Jae Hee has also advised on the enforcement of, and challenges against, arbitral awards in a variety of jurisdictions. Originally from Korea, Jae Hee has practised arbitration in Hong Kong, England and Singapore, and is a member of the #HongKong bar.
