The Greater Boston Food Bank operates from a 117,000-square-foot Yawkey Distribution Center in South Boston. This is where 109 million pounds of healthy food passes through before being distributed across Eastern Massachusetts through more than 600 partner agencies and direct distribution sites such as: Food Pantries Soup Kitchens and Meal Programs Senior Centers, and more Last year, the Greater Boston Food Bank distributed more than 107 million pounds of healthy food, the equivalent of nearly 90 million meals that includes 29% of Produce, 22% of Protein, 13% of Rice, Pasta, and Grains, 8% of Dairy and Dairy Alternatives, 7% of Canned Fruit and Vegetables, 5% of Juice and Beverages, 4% of Complete Meals and Soups and 12% of Other Foods and General Household Goods. Women’s Lunch Place is more than just a meal program—it’s a refuge that offers warm meals, advocacy, and essential resources to empower women in need. Their mission is to restore dignity and hope by providing support and care to those facing challenging times. At Yale Appliance, giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do. Our volunteers had the privilege of spending the day at Women's Lunch Place helping prepare meals for women in need. This incredible organization provides nourishment, support, and a safe space for women experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. The mission of Mothers' Milk Bank Northeast is to provide pasteurized donor human milk to fragile babies throughout the Northeast. Not every baby is able to consume formula as it can be dangerous for specific babies that require human milk in order to survive. Education is a large part of their mission at the milk bank and it's important for people to realize this issue in order to address it properly. Women's Lunch Place inspires hope and supports the development of self-sustaining skills for women experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty. Last year, Women's Lunch Place served over 2,200 women experiencing homelessness and poverty from the Greater Boston area. Some women come infrequently, while others visit almost daily.
