We have heard so many amazing stories of the efforts to help those affected by the California fires. There are so many in the dry cleaning community who have stepped up to help. One being the California Cleaners Association (CCA). CCA has made significant strides in supporting those affected. As soon as the fires broke out, Ray Rangwala, President of CCA, immediately contacted as many local cleaners as possible to offer assistance. Among the many ways they’ve supported the community, they also led a water drive to deliver cases of water to those affected by the drinking water restrictions. On January 7th 2025, hurricane force Santa Ana winds caused 7 destructive wildfires to break out in the state of California. We reached out to the Dry Cleaning community to hear the heartwarming stories of those who have stepped up to help the victims of these devastating fires. The stories we heard were truly eye opening. Although the fires are now contained there is still a long road ahead for the families, homes, and businesses affected. We spoke with Koko at Magic Cleaners in Pasadena, whose home was personally affected by the fires. After being evacuated from his home, he decided he wanted to do something to give back to the community by offering wash and fold at no charge through the end of January for those affected by the fires and for first responders. He stated, “I wanted to help people out and do their laundry for no charge through the end of the month. To get this off their back as we are all hurting right now.” Like Koko and many more, The dry cleaning and laundry community has truly risen, playing a crucial role in supporting those affected.
