In honor of Women's History Month, our #WITQuoteWednesday comes from the first Native American female engineer, Mary Golda Ross. As the first Cherokee woman to participate in several aerospace projects, Ross's contributions—such as "Skunk Works" (secret government military developments), co-authoring volume three of NASA's Planetary Flight handbook, and designing spacecrafts—significantly influenced American aerospace development.???? ?? ?? Not only was she a major contributor to space exploration and aerospace engineering, but Ross was also a passionate advocate for more Native Americans and women to join engineering. Her dedication to ensuring future generations' opportunities in the sciences reflects the lasting legacy of her impact. #MaryGoldaRoss #WomenInTech #WITQuoteWednesday #WomenHistoryMonth

A major figure in the history of women in technology, today’s #WITQuoteWednesday comes from Katherine Johnson. A trailblazer known for her empowering contributions as a NASA mathematician and STEM advocate, Johnson was responsible for many of NASA’s groundbreaking moments. From calculating space flight paths to rocket launches, her role as a mathematician with missions such as Freedom 7 (1961), Friendship 7 (1962), and Apollo 11 (1969) exemplifies the critical need for women in STEM. Not only did Johnson faced extensive obstacles as a woman in STEM, but the additional racial barriers of said U.S period experienced by many fellow African-American women “computers”, posed another layer of challenges she powerfully overcame. Today, Johnson’s work and groundbreaking experiences lives on in American history. Her presence as one of STEM history’s greats showcases the impactful trajectory of how past pioneers can have on the future of #WomenInTech. #KatherineJohnson #WomenInTech #WITQuoteWednesday
