We always appreciate hearing the positive impacts that the WIA Summit has on today's leading women in agribusiness - and of course the future leaders within the sector. Here is what one student said about joining us in Denver.
Gillian Mae Villa, student at Kansas State University and participant in the Farm Foundation Field to Future 2024-25 cohort, contributed the following guest blog. This blog highlights the impact of attending the Women in Agribusiness Summit with her cohort this past September in Denver, Colorado. Not surprisingly, networking is the top objective for people attending our annual WIA Summit. For more than 85% of survey respondents, this is fully realized and then some. ?? Rylie Errett of ADM said, "The ability to meet people from multiple companies within the industry and to hear from individuals who are making a true difference within the agricultural world is an eye-opening experience! The connections that I made will last throughout my entire career!" Learn more about WIA and our events at https://hubs.li/Q02YVRcD0

Did you know that an increase of just one degree Fahrenheit results in lettuce sales increasing by 2%, grass seed sales by 4%, and tractor sales by 5%? That's when you need year-ahead weather intelligence to plan for farming and agribusiness. Weathertrends360 CEO, Bill "Captain" Kirk, explained all the details in this #WIAToday Q&A. https://hubs.li/Q02YJbvW0

Think agriculture is getting more productive? Think again, according to new data from Virginia Tech. Using a metric known as total factor productivity (TFP), Virginia Tech researchers said a target of 2% annual growth is needed to meet growing demand for ag products by 2050. The problem is: Since 2013, TFP has fallen to just 0.7%, and the U.S. is doing even worse, posting an averaging of -0.21% TFP annually from 2013-22.
