Human wisdom needs some innovation...or more. It’s staggering to see how primitive some of our actions still are—how we can still hate each other, start wars, and kill based on location, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We are a young species on this planet, but one of the most adaptable, with a complex language that allows us to share ideas and a capacity to gather in large groups toward a common goal. This planet still has everything for everyone if we focus on distribution of the goods in a sustainable way. So, why not choose unity and prosperity for the ecosystem that we are the most influential part of? The ice won’t care if it melts between certain borders, and the AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) certainly doesn’t care about our history with certain colors, gender or wealth accumulation. We must prioritize wisdom in our actions, decisions, and next steps—where we rise above emotional blockages and see ourselves from space as a collective that can only build a future together. Who wants to be the richest on an empty, hot or destroyed planet? That's scary indeed. It’s time to shift our perspective and channel all resources, including money, in the right direction. Our panel yesterday showed that we are not lacking wise, action-oriented people with the will to make a difference. Certain people with the right ideas and intentions are held back by the very structures meant to support progress. Conclusion: It’s clear that while we have the wisdom and the will, what we’re missing is the innovation in our systems to truly unleash our potential.
