Insulating glass windows: even greater energy efficiency thanks to direct glazing?? Legal regulations and building owners' wishes for greater energy efficiency are leading to new trends in the window industry. While many buildings are still fitted with double glazing, for example, triple insulating glass with a warm edge is increasingly being used today, as the improved insulation means that heating costs can be saved immediately. Window manufacturers and architects are therefore increasingly turning to direct glazing, i.e. bonding the insulating glass directly into the window sash. For this purpose, the window sash is fitted with an adhesive bead all the way round, with which the pane is completely bonded into the sash or the gap between the insulating glass and the sash is filled. The all-round glass connection further improves the thermal insulation, as no air escapes between the insulating glass and window profiles and therefore no thermal bridges are created - a win-win situation for energy efficiency. However, it is important for a permanently good energy balance that the bonding used for direct glazing is durable. To achieve this, it must be compatible with all sash materials, from timber to PVC and aluminium, and with all contact materials around the window. H.B. Fuller has therefore developed products for the innovative technology of direct glazing that are specially suited to the bonding of insulating glass in window sashes and have been tested for compatibility. In addition, window manufacturers and architects can count with a comprehensive overall package of expertise - from setting up partially or fully automated production to comprehensive tests. ??
