In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, WashU Medicine Physical Therapy hosted a food drive in conjunction with Operation Food Search and the United Way of Greater St. Louis. Together, faculty, clinicians, staff, and learners donated around 80 food and hygiene items for local families facing food insecurity this holiday season. Empowering teachers, transforming classrooms ??: The School of Continuing & Professional Studies (CAPS), in partnership with Teach St. Louis, has expanded its Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning program. Designed to elevate veteran teachers working in high-need classrooms, the program equips educators with advanced instructional strategies to drive improved learning outcomes.

We are proud to share that the Office for Socially Engaged Practice received a Distinguished Award from AIA St. Louis, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, in the Unbuilt category for the Gateway Pavilion at Peace Park. The pavilion was designed by students in Assistant Professor Wyly Brown's course, Materials for Memory. Brown's research looks deeply at how bamboo can be used more widely. Initially constructed on campus in fall 2022, the pavilion was moved to the College Hill neighborhood park, near the Grand Avenue water tower, in fall 2023. The pavilion is part of a larger project to rebuild Peace Park, a community-driven initiative to create healthy green spaces to improve the quality of life in the College Hill neighborhood. An opening celebration for the park is anticipated in spring 2025.

#ICYMI, five Washington University in St. Louis ventures were named in the 2024 Arch Grants cohort. These companies, which were selected for their potential to drive economic impact and innovation, reflect the strength and growth of St. Louis' entrepreneurial ecosystem.
