? Semantic code search indexing just got supercharged in GitHub Copilot! What's new: Indexing time has been slashed from 5 minutes to just seconds (max 60 seconds for larger repos). This dramatic improvement means Copilot can now provide contextually-aware assistance the moment you need it. How it works: When you open GitHub Copilot Chat (in VS Code or github.com), the indexing process starts automatically. Using @workspace commands, you can then ask questions about your entire codebase, and Copilot will intelligently retrieve relevant files and symbols to ground its answers in your specific context. For example, try queries like: "@workspace how is authentication implemented?" "@workspace where is the database connection configured?" The feature is available to all Copilot users across all tiers—yes, including the free tier—with no limits on repository indexing. Developers, what are you most excited to ask your codebase? #VSCode #DevExperience #AIforDevelopers #GitHubCopilot #CodingProductivity
