Discover, explore and celebrate the impact and heritage of Black British music this weekend as we host the Black Sound Project in collaboration with the Gallery of Living History and Black Sound. Bring your artefact representing your experience or memory of Black/ black music in Coventry and be part our Heritage Collection Day on Saturday 8 February, 10:00 – 18:00. You can bring any object related to your experience of Black/black music in Coventry: for example, a concert ticket, a record, a photo etc. Your artefact will then be 2D or 3D scanned, and we will record a short audio clip of you explaining its personal significance to you. Excited to welcome Sean Carroll and Clarice Hilton of ANAGRAM to our monthly online meet tomorrow. Sean and Clarice's talk is titled "Inside Mental Health: Building Empathy With VR". Join us tomorrow at 1pm EST/ 6pm GMT for our monthly Metaverse for Good Committee meeting! Our guest this month is Emily P., founder of readyr. Her talk is titled:?“Are We Missing a Trick??How Learnings from Commercial VR Could be Applied on a Public Level to Bolster National Resilience.” Bio: Since starting her career in 2007 as an Event Manager at the NEC, over the past 17 years Emily Peat?has gained unparalleled experience in exhibitions and live events. Most recently she is known for the seamless delivery of the UK’s second largest B2C exhibitions, attracting upwards of 100,000+ visitors each. Throughout her career, Emily has earned the respect of the industry, featuring in articles for both Exhibition News and NEBOSH, as well as delivering keynote speeches for Event Week Live and providing consultative services for industry newcomers. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and thorough approach, valuing facts, collaboration, solid processes and creating beautiful, interactive experiences. Before entering the events industry however, Emily’s love for truth-seeking, learning and problem-solving developed during the many hours spent in the lab during her BSc, using sedimentary magnetic analysis to identify the primary source of problematic sedimentary build-up in reservoirs. This was later followed by a Masters in Applied Research and consultancy. Emerging from the pandemic, Emily saw not only an unaddressed gap in the market but also the wider implications of a society dependent on others and struggling services. From this observation, she developed a personal commitment to bring strength and resilience back to the nation. After months of consumer and business research and years of event experience behind her, the concept of Readyr was born. #metaverse #metaverseforgood #techforgood #immersive #VR #virtualreality Sarah Porter Kris Kolo VR/AR Association (VRARA) Bianca Wright, PhD
