With GI Bill benefits and US DOL Registered Apprenticeship Program, getting a trucking education and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is affordable and highly attainable. The industry and our government have made it so accessible for veterans because the military community offers technical and soft skills such as leadership and rapid decision-making. These skills are combined with an emphasis on safety, teamwork, and dependability, creating an incredible talent pool for any industry. But trucking isn't the only industry competing for this military talent. We need to look ahead of being military friendly and put a new focus on *Veteran Ready*. The Veteran Ready Summit is an annual event that brings trucking industry employers together to bring the industry into a Veteran Ready space—more than simply military friendly. Last year alone, the summit hosted 150+ attendees and 50+ speakers representing military leadership, training institutions, trucking associations, and employers. They convene to share best practices to help a "rising tide lift all boats." Our curated content will offer attendees actionable advice, tools, and resources to create a military hiring program from scratch or enhance existing efforts to meet today’s recruiting and retention challenges.
