With round-trip efficiencies typically ranging between 70–80%, PHS plays a crucial role in grid stability, storing excess renewable energy and releasing it when needed. ?? Exciting news to share! ?? Our latest paper, Global Water Gaps Under Future Warming Levels, has just been published in Nature Portfolio (Nature Communications). This collaborative work with Matteo Sangiorgio explores a critical issue for climate resilience and water management. ?? Read the full publication here: https://lnkd.in/gHRe-g7Q In this study, we quantify volumetric water gaps — the deficit that drives water scarcity — under both historical and future climate scenarios. Understanding these gaps is crucial to identifying how much water is needed to bridge shortages through solutions like desalination, wastewater recycling, crop switching, or expanded water storage. We hope it sparks meaningful discussions on sustainable water solutions in the face of climate change! ??

Solar power generation hit a record high, reaching 87 TWh – a 23% jump!? ??? Offshore wind generation increased by 21%, while onshore generation rose by 2%.? ?? Hydropower plants improved their output by 13%.? ? Fossil fuel electricity generation hit a historical low at 165 TWh, dropping by 11%.?? ?? Now it's time to up the ante!? ?? From fusion to enhanced geothermal, to name a few, clean energy made in Europe will give us more independence and bring energy prices further down.?? ??
