Way to go Makeda Easter! ?? Over four dozen people came out on Friday to support the opening?exhibition of “Making It: The Artist Pay Project." The Artist Pay Project is an immersive exhibition and journalistic series that spotlights the financial realities faced by artists through anonymous money diaries. Developed by 2022-2023 Wallace House Center for Journalists Fellow and the University of Michigan - Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy's Center for Racial Justice researcher, Easter interviewed over 30 artists from various disciplines — including visual arts, dance, film, and drag — to understand how much artists are paid for their work. The exhibition is on display now at the Business+Impact at Michigan Ross Impact Studio through December 12. ?? The Community Keys project (June 2024) was proposed by U-M Student Ashley Gray, Sophomore in the School of Kinesiology, and was supported through the U-M Arts Initiative’s Projects in Partnership (PiP) funding program, which supports large-scale projects that activate the campus and local community. The project performances took place over the summer at Ann Arbor Summer Festival (A2SF)'s Top of the Park for a Make Music Day?community?concert.
