Yesterday, nearly 100 attendees gathered in South Jordan to explore Downtown Daybreak: Utah’s First Sports-Anchored Mixed-Use Development. The event kicked off with a panel discussion featuring Stephen James, Ted Knowlton and Tamara Zander, moderated by David Cannon. The conversation highlighted Downtown Daybreak’s vision to celebrate and support density by embedding accessible transportation options, diverse product types, and experiential equity for residents and visitors alike. Following the discussion, attendees toured the construction site of the highly anticipated Utah Bees stadium and surrounding amenities. We hope to come back to see the finished product in April! Today, ULI Utah hosted an exciting UrbanPlan workshop in Utah County, where two teams competed fiercely to tackle real-world urban development challenges! Both groups faced tough questions around financial requirements and absorption rates, ultimately presenting unique approaches: One team crafted a compact, self-contained site plan, optimizing for walkability and tucking away parking areas. The other team prioritized community engagement and placemaking, thoughtfully allocating space for public services and addressing community needs. A huge thank you to our dedicated participants and our incredible volunteers, Dan Larsen, CRE, Richard Monsen, Josh Green, MAI, MRED, Pat Grady and Kersten Swinyard who made this workshop possible. Yesterday, nearly 50 attendees gathered in Salt Lake City’s Central City neighborhood for a lunch-hour tour of The Citizen, a new Class A apartment community just east of downtown. With 264 units ranging from studios to spacious two-bedroom townhomes, The Citizen is designed to offer residents both comfort and style. Attendees explored the impressive amenities including a pool deck and rooftop lounge boasting panoramic views of downtown and the surrounding mountains.
