These last weeks have been exciting, I've been playing with UiPath's Agents and Agentic Orchestration, and I really like the advancements and improvements to the tool! If I would have to summarize the latest tests with the tool in a single word, Expansion would be it. I got to prove that the Agent with the proper tools can extract data from any document in a structured way, thus I wanted to do something with this output. One of the first document types that I tested was Invoices, and a quite popular use case for them would be an Accounts Payable Navigator, thus headphones, and hands on it! In short, this agent would use the Invoice Data extracted with the initial agent, and by connecting to multiple data sources (SAP tables, vendor master files, approval workflows, and more...) it would try to crosscheck all the available information to validate the PO. What really provided value to the test was, in case of no PO, leveraging all data to find the best possible matching PO for that invoice. End to End workflow data: Input - Invoice PDF Output - Summarized recommendation of actions and next steps. On the video below, the Invoice does not contain a PO, thus after the data extraction, the agent navigates through the available and relevant data in SAP being: - Receiving Log: Accesses goods receipt records including received quantities, receipt dates, condition upon arrival, and receiving personnel. - PO Line Items: Fetches detailed line item information for purchase orders including product codes, descriptions, quantities, unit prices, and extended amounts. - Cash Positions: Retrieves current cash balance data including available funds, forecasted inflows/outflows, and payment capacity. - Purchase Orders: Retrieves master purchase order data including vendor information, order dates, delivery terms, payment terms, and total amounts. The result? The agent found the matching PO despite no reference number on the invoice. It identified partial shipment scenarios, analyzed all discrepancies, and provided the human with reasoning on why the Invoice can proceed, plus a recommendation for capturing early payment discount opportunities. P.S.
