The Office of Community Health & Research will serve as the foundation for UAMS’ eighth institute, which will work with communities across Arkansas to research health barriers and deploy community-driven programs to improve health outcomes in some of the most rural and medically underserved regions of the state. We seek to identify and understand health needs through research and programs and work to create an environment where every person has access to their best health. A highly successful and productive research office with a team of more than 150 full-time staff and investigators, ICHI leads a variety of community-engaged research and programs focused on Maternal Child Health; Health, Hunger & Nutrition; Health Equity & Access; and Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Diseases. The pioneering work of the office has established a nationally-recognized presence in northwest Arkansas, engaging in innovative collaborations with regional, statewide and national organizations dedicated to eliminating health disparities and improving health outcomes for all.
