ENSCO proudly supports the Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) Transportation Technology Center (TTC) as the prime contractor. With over 50 years of operation, this Department of Transportation (DOT) facility spans 52 square miles, boasting the world's largest railway test and training facility. TTC features 50+ miles of test track, including specialized catenary wire and third rail tracks, capable of testing speeds up to 165 mph. It conducts full-scale fire and blast testing, handling explosions up to 500 lb equivalent TNT, with an onsite dedicated fire department. As of October 2022, ENSCO manages this crucial transportation hub, collaborating with government, commercial, and educational entities in advancing rail and surface transportation innovation.

Last week, the Transportation Technology Center had the honor of hosting The Honorable J. J. Todd Inman, Board Member of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), along with Mr. Andrew F. Giacini (Special Assistant) and Mr. Benjamin Strot (Investigator). This visit, hosted by Federal Railroad Administration and ENSCO, Inc., marks the latest in our ongoing engagement with federal agencies to advance safety across all modes of #surfacetransportation. During their time at TTC, our esteemed guests explored key capabilities that support #research, #testing, and #training to enhance transportation safety. Their agenda included: ?? A site tour showcasing technical training for safety inspectors ?? A visit to the Emergency Response Training Center (ERTC) for hands-on demonstrations ?? A review of the Surface Transportation Security Readiness Facility, including TSA’s Blast Tunnel Test Facility ?? A train ride on the Railroad Test Track (RTT), highlighting cutting-edge research in grade crossing safety, rail defect testing, and Positive Train Control (PTC) This visit follows last year’s tour by The Honorable Alvin Brown, NTSB Vice Chairman, reinforcing the growing interest in TTC as a national resource for multi-modal transportation safety. We appreciate the continued collaboration with FRA, NTSB, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and other agencies as we work together to enhance #safety, security, and #innovation across the transportation sector. A big thank you to our TTC team, FRA, ENSCO, and our federal partners, for making this visit a success!?
