The United States?lifted its month-long pause?on tariffs for Canada and Mexico today, ending the possibility that the duties would be pushed back a second time. Beginning Tuesday, imports from each country will now be subject to a 25% tariff, per?amendments?to President Donald Trump’s executive orders from last month.

Increased traffic enforcement and roadway infrastructure improvements are needed to reduce the high level of U.S. traffic fatalities, local government officials and safety advocates said at a Feb. 12 subcommittee hearing. More than?40,000 people a year?died in traffic collisions from 2021 to 2023, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Governors Highway Safety Association estimates that 2023 car crashes killed 7,318 pedestrians and 1,149 bicyclists.

Bison Transport is adding visibility and agility to its cross-docking operations, through printable and scannable barcodes with the help of Scanbot scanners. The Winnipeg-headquartered carrier, with locations in Canada, Mexico and the U.S., built its own app for drivers around nine years ago and also turned to the German-based software development company to digitize paperwork and record-keeping, Friesen said.

BMO reported that impaired loans eased by 12% within its transportation portfolio during Q1, according to earnings materials. Total gross impaired transportation loans totaled CA$196 million ($137 million around the time of the release) for Canadian businesses and CA$214 million for U.S. counterparts.

Aurora's CEO is optimistic for a national AV framework from President Donald Trump's administration. Most states allow autonomous operations already, the company has noted, but the firm reported on the call that it’s still finalizing its safety case over the next several weeks. The company has committed to a commercial launch in Texas this coming April. Aurora plans to begin with one truck on a Houston to Dallas lane before expanding to 10 trucks later this year.
