Wrapping up 2024 with a bang! ?? Last week, we concluded our final live workshop in Barcelona, for our EU ATS Learning Team this year, and what a fantastic journey it's been! I was fortunate to partner with the awesome Elisa De Tomasi for this closing event for the EU ATS ACES Team - together, we delivered an unforgettable experience! Some highlights from our power-packed day: ? Kicked off with a Multipliers session, unlocking the incredible talent in the room....... what a wonderful mix of skills to showcase and celebrate! ? Dove deep into Amazon Freight and our Day 1 Culture, led by the amazing Chris Roe FCMA, CGMA from Amazon Freight ? Uncovered the team's superpowers through SDI ?and explored High Performing Team dynamics, gaining actionable insights to elevate collaboration ?? The energy, enthusiasm, and active participation from everyone made this truly special. A huge thank you to Eefke de Valk for her trust in us and for her exceptional leadership throughout. Milestone Alert! ?? I’m thrilled to announce that my team and I have emerged as winners at the Gen-AI Amazon Hackathon, hosted by Amazon Transportation Services (ATS)! This journey has been an incredible blend of collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving. I couldn’t be prouder of our team’s hard work, creativity, and resilience over the course of the competition. The experience of presenting our solution, which we developed in just 2 days, to Amazon’s senior leadership was an unforgettable opportunity. The recognition we received for our efforts was a true testament to the power of teamwork and determination. Load out, roll out ?? ?? As we drive into the Peak season, thank you to our people and partners for all you do for customers!
If you’ve ever had a chance to watch the Amazon load out process, you know it’s a pretty cool experience! There’s a lot of teamwork that goes into safely loading the vans then hitting the road to deliver for customers, and the teams have it all down to a science ????. Today’s loadouts were particularly exciting as our Black Friday Week kicked off this morning, and the deals keep going through Cyber Monday on December 2. We’ll be delivering for customers all season long, and I’m so grateful to our employees and partners who make that possible! P.S. Prepping for an Amazon interview? Remember: Situation, Task, Action, and Results ? Learn more about how to prepare and the STAR method below:
One of the biggest mistakes we see candidates make in their interviews is not presenting their accomplishments in a clear and concise way. If an interviewer can’t follow your stories, it’s difficult for them to assess whether you’re a fit for our role and company. That’s why we’re not secretive about our expectations. We ask behavioral-based interview questions and interviewees should use the STAR method to respond. The acronym stands for: Situation, Task, Action, and Results. ? Situation: start with a clear description of a situation you were in. Avoid rambling, but offer enough detail for the interviewer to understand the complexities of it. ? Task: clearly state the goal. ? Action: what steps did you take? What was your contribution? Let us know what you did, not what your team or group did. ? Result: don’t be shy about taking credit. What happened? How did it end? Provide examples using data. This might seem like common sense, but job interviews (at any company!) can be nerve-wracking. Most people feel some sort of pre-interview anxiety no matter what the company is. So, the more someone is prepared with a wide range of thoughtfully organized stories, the more likely they are to set themselves up for success. What other interview tips do you recommend? ?? Employee Spotlight ?? Meet Sophie Shearer, a Senior Program Manager in EU Amazon Transportation Services based out of our LHR35 office. Sophie's story exemplifies how diverse experiences can lead to impactful careers at Amazon, driving positive change within the company and the wider transportation industry. With a background in theatre arts, the charity sector, and immersive events, Sophie's path to Amazon was anything but conventional. Over the past 4.5 years, her "squiggly career" at Amazon has led her from corporate engagement to her current role growing and leading a team focused on end-to-end Customer Experience and Impact across Europe, including carrier partners, their drivers and community members. Sophie's proudest achievement was launching the first Women at Amazon: Transportation (WAT) EU summit, celebrating DEI efforts across Europe. The event hosted over 100 participants and recognised outstanding contributions in the field. As Vice President of the WAT EU affinity group, Sophie works to inspire and support female talents in an industry where women are underrepresented. Sophie is continually impressed by Amazon's culture of innovation, which has enabled the implementation of DEI initiatives such as WAT, customer experience enhancements, and positive community impact. Outside of work, she supports theatre arts and uses her running journey to fundraise for various charities.
