Washington, we need your help! Community organizations and groups like the Kittitas Fire Adapted Communities Coalition are making good use of important state funds from the Wildfire Response, Forest Restoration & Community Resilience Account at the state Department of Natural Resources. But funds in this account are at risk in a tough state budget climate. Legislators need to hear from their constituents: Washington must keep its promise and hold the line on wildfire by fully funding the Wildfire Resilience Account. Take action today! Urge your legislators to fully fund?$125 million for the Wildfire Resilience Account this biennium: https://lnkd.in/gAewiDsv

As a quantitative ecologist with The Nature Conservancy, Dr. Ailene Ettinger is one of the GRIT (Greening Research in Tacoma) team members working to assess the environmental and social effects of greening efforts in South Tacoma. "The trees planted last year in the GRIT neighborhood are now in full bloom! Today, I downloaded temperature data from our loggers on utility poles. We're combining this data with resident surveys to understand how environmental changes are impacting the community. Our goal? To see how trees can help reduce urban heat, combat air pollution, and strengthen climate resilience." ?? : Ailene Ettinger, TNC Washington Quantitative Ecologist
