“There is an incredible network of veterans across Booth, UChicago, and the greater Chicago area,” says Alexandra Davis, a Full-Time MBA student and army veteran. “The Armed Forces Group is about 125 members strong and has great diversity in the ways Boothies have served, ranging from active-duty military to international military to government agency personnel. I’m grateful that the Booth community allows me to share who I am, while also making space for who I aspire to become.” After Booth, Davis plans to pursue a career in consulting, which she sees as a natural progression of her work in the army. As a signal officer for the Joint Communications Support Element, she served a wide spectrum of agencies, helping solve complex problems and providing communications support. “The army taught me to be disciplined and how to prioritize tasks,” she says. “I’ve found these two lessons to be invaluable for business school and my future career.” #VeteransDay

Through the Rustandy Center’s Civic Chicago program, Booth students are immersing themselves in the city’s neighborhoods, discovering ways to engage in civic life and create social impact by connecting with local communities. Recently, Booth students engaged in a walking tour of the historic Hyde Park and the neighboring Woodlawn area, examining urban history and innovative development efforts. They also engaged in a roundtable discussion with local developer Bill Williams, founder of KMW Communities, and Ro Sekoni, Senior Advisor. Here, they gained valuable insights into how KMW is redefining Chicago housing by building more equitable and inclusive communities.? ?#UChicago #ChicagoBooth #socialimpact
