Faculty Friday!
Meet Michael Kelsch, one of our amazing adjunct professors and alumni! He grew up in North Augusta, SC, and he graduated from The Citadel in 1980 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, where he was a member of the Summerall Guards and a photographer for the Brigadier and Sphinx.
After graduation, Mike received a commission in the U.S. Navy, becoming a Naval Aviator assigned to Attack Squadron 75 (VA75) flying the A-6E Intruder onboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). He later became a jet instructor pilot flying the T-2C.
After eight years of active duty, Mike joined Delta Air Lines, where he enjoyed a 32-year career flying various aircraft, including the MD-88, B727, B757, B767, and A330. He served as a captain for 22 years. During his time at Delta, he earned a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering through the University of Idaho’s engineering outreach program. He has been teaching at The Citadel for about three years.
Mike has been married to his wife, Julie, for 44 years. They have four adult children and nine grandchildren.
