Hi! I’m Yves Marie Christine Civil, born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and proud to have called the United States home since I was six years old. I became an American citizen in my twenties, a milestone that means so much to me. Though I’m fairly new to The Bridge, it has already given me incredible opportunities for growth, knowledge, and confidence—and most importantly, it’s inspired me to hope again. I love creating, whether it’s making bracelets, painting pottery, or diving into any kind of arts and crafts. Living in Manhattan, she draws inspiration from everything around her, saying, “I am inspired by life.” For Patricia, painting is more than creativity—it’s a way to cope with pain. “When I’m painting, I lose the pain; I don’t feel it until I stop, and it returns, crashing down.” ? Formerly a professional actor, Patricia’s career took a turn after a car accident impacted her memory. “My search for another means of expression led me to The Bridge, where I joined other creative groups. It gave me hope that I had a new way to share my creativity.” ? Today, Patricia is focused on building a stable home and cherishing the companionship of her therapy bird, Escher.
