The American College Center for Women in Financial Services’ mission is to promote the advancement of women in the financial services profession through research, education, awareness, and advocacy, as well as prepare financial professionals to meet the needs of women clients and prospects. With American women standing to inherit $30 trillion by 2030, the need for services catering specifically to women is clear; however, surveys show only 20% of financial professionals are women, making them an often-underrepresented perspective on either side of the desk. To this end, the Center for Women in Financial Services advises professional women, their industry allies, and consumers on how to promote, advocate for, and advance women in financial services and beyond. The Center also conducts and leverages research regarding best practices for women working in financial services of all backgrounds. Currently, studies show white women occupy 23% and women of color occupy 4% of executive roles in financial services. Now is the time to turn up and step up, advancing gender parity in the profession. To this end, the Center’s ongoing, timely, and primary research delivers insights on essential topics impacting women, including research from outside sources and perspectives, to inform ongoing initiatives. These findings help determine the best ways to advance gender parity and open doors to women everywhere. In addition, the Center’s annual Women Working in Wealth Awards honor women who inspire, mentor, and strive to advance other women in financial services. Shining a light on these women in front of their male peers, advocates, and members of the media and the profession helps power the change the Center seeks.
