Dan Rosenberg of Octane11 took a swing at the ethical minefield that is AI on The ADOTAT Show, and let’s just say, he’s not holding his breath for a clean resolution anytime soon. Asked about the biggest ethical disaster waiting to happen in AI, he pointed to the usual suspects—data privacy, medical records, and personal information—things regulators are trying (and often failing) to get a grip on. But then he cut to the real problem: AI supercharging misinformation, especially in politics. He basically said, “Look, we already saw it in the last election cycle, and it’s only getting worse.” His big concern? AI-fueled gaslighting, where misinformation floods the zone so aggressively that reality gets shoved out of the conversation entirely. And in marketing? Good luck keeping up with truth-in-advertising laws when screens multiply like rabbits and AI-generated content floods every corner of the internet. Then came the kicker: AI might actually be the solution to the mess it’s creating. “We’re going to need some controls, some accountability… maybe AI can help with that.” That’s right—he’s suggesting the same tech that’s causing the chaos might be the thing to clean it up. Classic AI paradox: the arsonist moonlighting as the firefighter.

Carl Fremont of Quigley-Simpson, dropping some real wisdom on The ADOTAT Show, basically laid down the golden rule of career karma: Help others, because one day, you’ll need help too. Not exactly a groundbreaking revelation, but hey, it’s a truth most people conveniently ignore until they’re the ones looking for a lifeline. His take? He’s not just in it for the feel-good points—he actually enjoys mentoring, guiding, and making sure people hit their goals. Wild concept, right? A leader who actually cares instead of just spouting off LinkedIn platitudes. If only more execs got the memo. ALSO: Big thank you to Eric J. Troutman and Troutman Amin LLP. Troutman Amin didn’t just believe in The ADOTAT Show before it was cool—they put their money where their mouth is two years ago when this was just an idea, a mic, and a whole lot of chutzpah. Fast forward to today: 30,000+ YouTube listeners, 32,000 newsletter readers, and hundreds of thousands following us across social media. We’ve become one of the biggest (if not the biggest) channels in the industry, and it wouldn’t have happened without their early support.

Lizzie Chapman of NextRoll just handed a wake-up call to every exec still clinging to their dog-eared growth-at-all-costs playbook like it’s a sacred text. Newsflash: that era is dead, and if you’re still running your company like it’s 2015, you’re about to get lapped. On The ADOTAT Show, Chapman didn’t sugarcoat it—leaders need to stop pretending that what worked a decade ago still makes sense in a world where work-from-home is the norm, Gen Z isn’t chasing the same status markers, and employees actually expect to be listened to. Radical, right? Her advice: shut up and listen. Younger employees have a fundamentally different view of money, work, and life goals, and ignoring them isn’t just tone-deaf—it’s bad business. Not every suggestion will be a winner, but if you’re still running an office like some kind of feudal kingdom where only the top brass make the calls, don’t be shocked when talent walks out the door. The workplace has changed. The economy has changed. Adapt or enjoy irrelevance.

Header bidding was a massive game-changer for digital advertising, as Marketing Director Gavin Dunaway notes — but it also opened more paths for threat actors to distribute #malware and #malvertising on unsuspecting publishers and consumers. All innovation in #adtech opens vulnerabilities—you gotta make sure your assets are covered. Pesach Lattin ?? adotatADOTAT

Reflecting on his career in advertising, Gavin Dunaway of The Media Trust emphasized the significance of embracing risk and innovation. During his tenure at AdMonsters around 2015 or 2016, Emry Downinghall introduced him to the concept of "tagless tech," which, despite its name, involved numerous tags. This concept evolved into what is now known as header bidding, a transformative development in the advertising industry. Dunaway acknowledged that header bidding significantly altered the industry landscape, rendering the traditional waterfall model obsolete—a model that primarily benefited Google. He noted that Google's practices, such as dynamic allocation and last look, often disadvantaged publishers and didn't necessarily serve advertisers well either.

A former journalist, Marketing Director Gavin Dunaway is always at the TMT #malware desk's door, look for the latest #malvertising scoop. Here he shares intriguing deals #zombieadtech, cyphers in malvertising that hijack legit advertiser campaigns, and how the digital media traffic squeeze is emboldening bad actors.
?? MUST-WATCH: The ADOTAT Show with Gavin Dunaway of The Media Trust ?? Ad tech’s very own rock-and-roll philosopher, Gavin Dunaway, stops by The ADOTAT Show to talk digital trust, malvertising chaos, and why your grandma is one phishing scam away from thinking she’s wired money to a Nigerian prince. This episode is like an Indiana Jones movie—except instead of ancient relics, we’re hunting down shady ad tags, zombie SSPs, and malware exploits sneakier than a Russian bot farm. Dunaway, now wielding the marketing megaphone at The Media Trust, gives us the inside scoop on how cybercriminals keep getting smarter while advertisers keep pretending it’s someone else’s problem. Spoiler alert: It’s everyone’s problem. Ever wonder if bad ads were a punk band, what their stage name would be? Or why Google, the alleged sheriff of the open web, seems to be taking an extended coffee break when it comes to digital fraud? We get into all of it—plus the future of CTV, why retail media is both the promised land and a slow-moving train wreck, and what Dunaway’s ideal desert island lineup has in common with your dad’s vinyl collection. Trust me, this one’s a ride. ?????? https://lnkd.in/gSgPgqq4

I know I'm boring praising Pesach Lattin ?? adotat over and over again, but as a journalist-at-heart and sometime-panel-moderator, I really appreciated how he kept this interview moving, hitting tons of ground at a pace that didn't garner whiplash. ALSO — subscribe to the Adotat newsletter and talked to Pasach about getting the Adotat+ version. Holy cow—he brought in a bunch of additive industry data around my points!
