    The Optimo Ultra Compact Zooms and the Optimo Prime lenses were used by Cinematographer Koichi Nakayama for a Japanese drama project, “Donketsu,” for streaming service of DMM TV. He shot the drama with ARRI ALEXA SXT and ALEXA Mini combined with the Optimo Ultra Compact zooms in Ultra 35 thanks to the Interchangeable Rear Optics. Here are few words from DP Nakayama San; “The reason I chose Optimo lenses is that the unique, soft, and impressive tone of characteristic Angénieux lenses is attractive for me. The look of Optimo Ultra Compact Zoom matches to the Optimo Prime lenses, ensuring the Optimo look to remain consistent whether switching between prime and zoom lenses. Also, these lenses are fast even these are zoom lenses and it was user-friendly for shooting. These are a significant advantage. For other projects, I often use full frame cameras like SONY VENICE so it is also a big advantage for us to be able to optimize the image circle according to the camera.”

    Cinematographer Garrett O’Brien used the Optimo Primes with IOP on McKenna Michels’ music video “Monster” released on February 14th. Here are some quotes from Garrett about his artistic choices over this project: “Out of all the lenses tested at Becine that fit our parameters, the ones that caught my attention the most were the Angenieux Optimo primes.” “The IOP with the ? glimmerglass was one of the significant reasons I chose this lens set. With the IOP element being embedded within the lens and not external, it means the degree of glimmer glass effect is perfectly consistent no matter the focal length.” “It allowed us to worry about one less thing for camera. It consumed less time and less resources for manpower and transporting gear.     The movie we wish to present this month is “La vie devant moi” (the life ahead) directed by Nils Tavernier. Released on February 26th, this true story was born from a testimony filmed in 1997 as part of Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. In 1942, Tauba, a teenager full of energy, narrowly escapes the Vel d’Hiv roundup with her parents. A couple, the Dinanceaus, offer to hide them temporarily in a tiny storage room in their building, under the roofs of Paris, until things calm down. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be temporary drags on, and the family sinks into silence and immobility. But Tauba is a fighter, and nothing will stop her from handling her destiny.     Vincent Gallot AFC shares his experience using Optimo Primes on “La vie devant moi”(the life ahead), a true story movie directed by Nils Tavernier, taking place under the roofs of Paris during World War II. Vincent on the rendering of skin tones with Optimo Prime Lenses. “We put straight away the Optimo Primes and right away, I told myself: “damn, it looks great” it actually works. The skin texture immediately seemed more interesting to us, sweeter also. The skin tone seemed more beautiful as well.     Anna Fabricius (@fabricius.anna), rising star in the cinematographic world, is a Swedish director of photography specializing in fiction, documentary, art, and dance films. She has contributed to numerous award-winning projects as both a cinematographer and director. Her latest project, Shaping Change, a short documentary where she worked as both cinematographer and director, premiered at Vega Scene. Anna completed a year of Strategic Communication at Lund University in Sweden before starting her studies in cinema at Popup Filmschool in Helsingborg, Sweden. After that she earned a degree in Cinematography from the Prague Film School. In 2022, Anna graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cinematography from the Norwegian Film School, where her thesis film, Superdupermegagigasingel, won the prestigious Norwegian Amanda Award for Best Short Film in 2023.
