Analysis of amplitude variation with offset (AVO) or angle (AVA) is an integral part of the prospecting process in many plays around the world. It is also a key analysis in reservoir characterization for field development and production monitoring. In our recent article on The Leading Edge (SEG), TGS' geoscientist Dave Went presents an integrated graphical approach to establish the relationship between the common rock properties, intercept and gradient, along with how those attributes can be generated from high-quality seismic data. How is 3D ultra-high-resolution (UHR3D) seismic helping to shape the future of offshore wind farm development? Traditional 2D seismic methods, while useful, often lack the details and spatial coverage required for modern offshore new energy projects. As wind campaigns grow in size and number, some key limitations of 2D surveys become increasingly apparent, such as incomplete subsurface coverage and lack of resolution. In our recent article published on The Leading Edge (SEG), experts bertrand caselitz, Allan McKay, Martin Widmaier, Julien Oukili, Daniel Davies and Noémie PERNIN highlight the value of UHR3D seismic technology in offshore wind farm development, demonstrating the importance of an integrated approach to survey design, acquisition and data processing. This methodology not only enhances subsurface imaging but also reduces uncertainties and supports informed decision-making. TGS' newly acquired 3D Narrow Azimuth (NAZ) data, combined with advanced broadband processing technologies and Dynamic Matching Full Waveform Inversion (DM FWI) model-building workflows, enabled a step change in understanding the tectonic-sedimentary evolution of the southern portion of Santos Basin, Brazil. In this recent First Break article, experts Pedro Zalan (Zag Consulting), Milos Cvetkovic, Henri Houllevigue, Kyle Reuber, PhD and Andrew Hartwig (TGS) present an unusual Post-Salt prospect over the Ametista Block with great petroleum potential, constituted of a possible Albian atoll developed upon the exhumed mantle. In 2024, TGS recovered 47.4 metric tons of marine debris—about the weight of 31 cars or 7–8 adult male elephants. As part of the EnerGeo Alliance's Sustainable Seas Initiative, our crews work to remove abandoned fishing gear, or “ghost nets,” which threaten marine life, coral reefs and vessel navigation. This marks the fourth year TGS has tracked marine debris recovery, reinforcing our commitment to ocean health and sustainability. A huge thank you to the marine field crews who make this possible. Your work is making a difference. Read more: https://hubs.ly/Q03bn1Yk0 #TGS #EnergyStartsWithUs #Sustainability #QHSE

The Most Advanced Dataset in the Foz do Amazonas Basin Brazil’s 5th Permanent Concession Offer has been launched, featuring 47 blocks in the Foz do Amazonas Basin—one of the country's most promising yet under-explored hydrocarbon frontiers. TGS, in partnership with Viridien, has acquired over 22,000 sq. km of 3D seismic data over the basin, delivering the most advanced subsurface imaging available. - Amapá Phase 1 was acquired in 2015 and reprocessed in 2022 using the latest processing technologies including Time-Lag Full-Waveform Inversion (TLFWI), significantly enhancing imaging quality. - Amapá Phase 2, was acquired in 2022 with the first commercial triple-source towed streamer acquisition in Brazil, final products completed in 2024. This survey applies advanced processing technologies such as Time-Lag Full-Waveform Inversion (TLFWI), Least-Squares Kirchhoff Migration and Reverse-Time Migration (RTM), providing unprecedented detail in this stratigraphic basin. Blocks in the Foz do Amazonas Basin offer significant potential in Syn- and Post-Rift units, with the Amapá 3D datasets revealing Cretaceous and Tertiary structural and stratigraphic plays. Conjugate discoveries, proven A-C-T source rock presence, and seismic reservoir facies indicate highly prospective leads, helping to de-risk exploration in this frontier basin.
