#InsuranceWoes #HRProblems #MarriageInsurance #HealthcareConcerns Hey there, community! ?? So, I'm feeling a bit frustrated and I could use some insight from folks who might have been in a similar boat. Here’s the scoop: Back in October, my husband and I tied the knot! ?? After we got our marriage license, he reached out to his HR department about adding me to his insurance plan. They assured him that I’d be added by Monday, November 18th, just before the 30-day deadline. Fast forward to today, and when I called customer service, they told me I’m still not on the plan! ?? Now, I have no idea when my coverage would kick in, if at all. Here are some of the pain points I’m dealing with: Communication breakdown: The HR consultant’s assurance didn’t translate into action. #Entrepreneurship #AffiliateMarketing #BusinessJourney #Persistence #SideHustleSuccess Hey everyone! ?? I wanted to share a little bit about my 10-year journey in search of that elusive "big break." It’s been a wild ride, filled with ups, downs, and lots of learning experiences! ?? Since 2002, I’ve dipped my toes in countless side hustles—think dropshipping poker chips, selling vintage tech on eBay, and even earning a decent $20K from installing business servers. ?? For a long time, my side hustles barely brought in $1,200/month. But then, in 2012, everything changed! My brother-in-law revealed the potential of affiliate marketing, specifically in home security. ?? I remember thinking, "I can build a site about the best home security systems!" So I jumped right in, and within six months, I had my first $100K month. It felt unreal and validated all those years of hustling! ?? By 2013, I took a leap of faith and quit my $120K/year job, diving into another affiliate venture with satellite... What Key Strategies Helped Me Finally Achieve My Big Break? #CareerChange #ITJourney #Inspiration #HardWorkPaysOff #NeverGiveUp Hey there, fellow IT enthusiasts! ?? It’s amazing how our paths can twist and turn, leading us to unexpected opportunities. Speaking of twists and turns, let’s chat about the blend of hard work, a dash of luck, and the belief that everything happens for a reason. So, picture this: I’m a 35-year-old guy who spent nearly a decade in healthcare as a therapist and even ran my own practice. After moving back to the Midwest, I had a big decision to make. Open another practice, or dive into a new career? ?? I chose to leap into IT, driven by the hope for professional growth and fresh opportunities. Here’s the kicker—I had a fantastic setup! My wife and I moved into my mother-in-law’s duplex (rent-free, yay! ??), allowing me to focus on deciding my next move while she continued her work from home. #NewGradChallenges #SoftwareUpgrades #EngineeringTalk Hey everyone! I wanted to chat about something that’s been on my mind. Have you ever thought about whether it’s reasonable to assign a fresh graduate engineer the task of upgrading a medium-sized enterprise-level ASP.NET Framework app to ASP.NET Core? ?? And here's where it gets a bit tricky: after that, they're also expected to update a 3000-line ADO.NET data service to switch from using MS SQL to PostgreSQL. ?? That’s quite a hefty workload for someone who just got their degree! Let’s think about some of the pain points here: Experience Gap: Fresh graduates often have theoretical knowledge but may lack hands-on experience in dealing with complex systems. This can lead to frustration and a steep learning curve. Overwhelming Tasks: Tackling such large migrations can be daunting. It’s easy for them to feel overwhelmed, which might affect their confidence and productivity. Potential for Mistakes: Without substantial gu... #JobLoss #FinalPaycheck #WorkersRights #AdviceNeeded Hey everyone, So here’s what’s been going down. I got fired last week, and honestly, I was completely blindsided by it. They claimed it was due to “performance issues,” but let’s get real—it was because I spoke up about some questionable decisions made in a meeting. ??♂? By that point, I was already checked out mentally due to the toxic environment. Now here’s the kicker: they’re being super shady with my final paycheck. Legally, I’m entitled to my last days worked and any accrued PTO, but it’s been over a week, and my account is still empty. I reached out to HR, and their excuse was a vague “processing delay.” Seriously? It’s 2024! They could hit a button and get that money in my account in no time! ?? Then I heard from a former coworker that this isn’t even the first time they’ve pulled this stunt. Apparently, they stall, hoping people will just give up. It’s not even a huge amount, but I NEED that money—bills don’t wait for a... How Can I Get Paid After Being Wrongfully Fired? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gjQxymic

#MidlifeCareerChange #NetworkEngineering #CareerAdvice Hey everyone! ?? I wanted to kick off a conversation about those little things we often overlook when diving into a new career—especially for those of us making a midlife career change. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new role, but sometimes there are unexpected realities that can catch you off guard. For instance, I’m currently a network engineer, and one thing that took me by surprise was the amount of after-hours work involved. Here are some key points that I wish I had considered earlier: Timing Matters: Network work can’t always be done during regular working hours. ?? On-Call Expectations: Be prepared for the possibility of being on-call after hours, which can really cut into your personal time. Continuous Learning: The tech world is always evolving, so staying updated requires extra effort! ?? Problem-Solving Under Pressure: Sometimes you have to troubleshoot on-the-fly, which can be stressful. So, what ar... What Surprising Challenges Should Career Changers Expect? #FMLA #WorkLifeBalance #RemoteWork #EmployeeRights Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a bit about my recent experience at work and hear your thoughts or any tips you might have! ?? So, I got my FMLA approved super fast and I’m set for 12 weeks of paid leave. Seriously, it was such a relief! However, I hit a little bump with my boss. When I needed to take sick leave recently, he said I should have given him a heads-up. Like, how in the world can you predict when you’ll get sick? ??♀? Also, have you noticed how we’re expected to cover our boss's responsibilities while they’re out, yet they have a meltdown when we take time off? ?? It’s such a double standard! I mean, I get that managers need to manage, but they should also be able to delegate tasks. Isn’t that part of their role? ?? On top of this, I’m requesting remote accommodations for my job, which is totally do-able from home. My manager claims that since it’s just the two of us, he’ll end up doing all the “in-person” stuff. Bu... How Can You Navigate FMLA Leave and Boss Overreach Successfully? #CareerAdvice #StudentLife #ChangingMajors #STEM #CSMajor #LifeDecisions Hey everyone! So, I’m in a bit of a pickle right now, and I could really use your insights. I’m a junior at university, but honestly feeling like the world’s biggest failure at 23. ?? Recently, I’ve come to the realization that Computer Science (CS) might not be my jam. Between struggling with coding and relying way too much on AI to get me through, I’m questioning if I should stick with CS or pivot to something completely different. Here’s the lowdown: ?? I graduated from community college with an Associate's in CS this year, but I'm not sure what that even means for my future. Right now, I’m failing two classes while barely passing one with an A, so I’m not in a great place academically. Here are my potential options: Plan A: Stick it out with CS, meet with a counselor, and retake the classes I’m failing. - **Pros:** Only two more years until I get that bachelor’s. #TechUnemployment #JobMarketReality #WageGrowth Hey everyone! ?? Let’s talk about something that’s been on a lot of minds lately. So, we’ve got the tech unemployment sitting at just 2.7% in October, while the overall unemployment is at 4.1%. And guess what? Real wages are hitting record highs too! ?? But here’s the million-dollar question: why doesn't the job market's "terrible" sentiment show up in these numbers? ?? Here are a few points to consider: Understanding the Data: A 2.7% unemployment rate in tech suggests we’re actually facing a labor shortage rather than a tight job market. So why the disconnect? Sometimes, the numbers don’t always capture the real-world experience of job seekers who are struggling despite the stats. Inflation and Real Wages: While real wages are increasing, they might not keep up with inflation rates affecting purchasing power. If wages feel stagnant in our wallets, even with record highs on paper, it can lead to frustration for many folks. ?? ... Why Is the Tech Job Market Feels Tough Despite Low Unemployment?
