From SuriCon2021 in Boston, Eric LEBLOND presented “New for Suricata 7: Conditional PCAP.” Learn how Suricata 7 introduced a new conditional capture mode that limits the PCAP storage of traffic to a selected and time-bound portion of the flow. In this talk, you will explore the various modes available and explain how to go from JSON alerts to the associated PCAP data. Also discussed were the limitations of this feature to help attendees better understand the best ways to benefit from this capability.
