Our 1L Diversity Fellowships Fair was a huge hit! First-year students interested in exploring diversity initiatives took full advantage of the chance to speak with representatives from organizations that sponsor 1L diversity fellowships, as well as previous fellowship recipients, to learn about opportunities, the application process, and the importance of diversity in the legal community. Many thanks to our organization representatives who graciously donated their time and expertise, St. John's University School of Law Alumni and previous fellowship recipients for sharing their experiences, and our students for their enthusiastic participation.

Cheers to our dedicated alumni, students, and faculty for making the Pro Bono Working Lunch a great success and an inspiring opportunity. What a wonderful way to showcase the importance #probono work and giving back. Great job all and many thanks to our St. John's Law Public Interest Center! #probonoweek
Real Estate Partner @ Farrell Fritz, P.C. | Economic Development | Contract & Lease Negotiator | Pro Bono Advocate
“Wherever possible, we devote our intellectual and physical resources to search out the causes of poverty and social injustice and to encourage solutions that are adaptable, effective, and concrete.” Earlier today, along with nearly 100 St. John's University School of Law students, alumnae (including Farrell Fritz, P.C. Colleague Kevin Mulry) and faculty, I participated in a #probono working lunch coordinated by St. John's Law Public Interest Center Mattone Institute to provide free legal answers covering a variety of practice areas and topics. This is the Vincentian tradition in action. Working together with two students, our table answered questions relating to real property transfer issues, tenant rights, and the applicability of good cause eviction law. Through our efforts, we assisted fellow New Yorkers in Brooklyn, Onondaga and Clifton Springs. It was a wonderful kickoff to National Pro Bono Celebration Week #celebrateprobono #probonoweek and a great way to “reach back” (as so wonderfully stated by Denise M. Miranda, Esq.) and contribute to a place that has provided me with incredible opportunities.

When Dean Jelani Jefferson Exum addressed a room full of friends, family, colleagues, and avid Law School supporters last night at the Harvard Club of New York City, she unveiled a vision for St. John’s Law that will usher in the next century of an outstanding legal education. She shared, “I'm here because I'm inspired by the mission of St. John's Law and St. John's University. It’s a place that brings together a belief in the value of educational excellence and service, and these are the same values that shaped my upbringing. That's why I'm excited to bring forward a vision of excellence, prominence, and impact to St. John's University School of Law. In partnership with all of you, I look forward to bringing that vision to life.” Concluding her remarks to audience cheers and applause, Dean Jefferson Exum said, “The St. John’s Law education impacts the legal profession and the communities that we, as lawyers, serve. Guided by St. John's Vincentian mission, our students learn to use their vocations to better society and to care for their communities. That is what St. John's Law has done for almost 100 years, and that is what we will do for the next 100 as we look to the future. Let us continue to work together to build all that makes St. John's Law extraordinary.” #StJohnsLaw #StJohnsLawAlumni #ExcellenceProminenceImpact
