During our 2025 Shield Global Online Safety Conference, Genevieve Bartuski, PsyD, MBA, Theresa Ryan-Rouger, and Rebecca Taylor hosted a collaboration jam to discuss the question: What can we do globally to make children and youth safer from online sexual predators? In this event, Genevieve and Theresa will share insights from their conference session, highlight their main takeaways, and propose concrete steps for improving collaboration and coordination across generations and borders. About the Speakers: Dr. Genevieve Bartuski: A clinical forensic psychologist and former hostage negotiator, Dr. Bartuski has a unique and diverse background. With most of her career dedicated to forensic settings, collaborating closely with law enforcement, and working on death row, she has developed a profound understanding of human behavior in high-stakes environments. Theresa Ryan-Rouger: A qualified human rights lawyer (Solicitor of England & Wales), Theresa holds a bachelor's in Political Science and Law, and a Master's in International Human Rights, specializing in the Rights of the Child. She has been working in this field for many years, focusing specifically on combating online child sexual abuse and exploitation through project management and advocacy at the EU level. During our 2025 Conference, anti-human trafficking and exploitation activists Deanna Larsen, Josh Eckstein, and Oluwafemi Abe hosted a collaboration jam to discuss the question: What can we do globally to reduce harm from human trafficking and online exploitation? In this event, Deanna, Josh, and Femi will share insights from their conference session, highlight their main takeaways, and propose concrete steps for improving collaboration and coordination across generations and borders. About the Speakers: Deanna Larsen: With over 35 years of martial arts experience, Deanna's life mission is to empower individuals through martial arts and self-defense. She is a passionate anti-human trafficking and exploitation activist. Josh Eckstein: At 18 years old, Josh is actively involved in human trafficking prevention. He develops and promotes localized and accessible resources on trafficking. Josh also leads intersectional solutions in human trafficking and climate issues in Uganda. Oluwafemi Abe: Holding a post-graduate degree in Public Policy with a specialization in human rights and democratic governance, Femi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the fight against human trafficking and exploitation. In two days we are going to have our first post-conference event! Sue Atkins and Evelyn Kasina will share their experience at the collaboration jam at last month's conference. We are really looking forward to this, especially since we will for sure get an interesting global perspective about how our cultures influence what it takes to be able to achieve healthier digital habits.

We just had a networking and feedback meeting with a number of the speakers from the last conference. There was so much positive energy and so many great ideas for how to move our initiative forward. Because we want to be more than just a yearly conference. We want to collaborate to lift up existing efforts to achieve more together. As Andrew Briercliffe put it so well in his speech, "The Intersection of Online Safety, Online Harms, and Trust and Safety" it was a wonderful event full of people who are close to the harms and ready to work together going forward.
