SDSN's program for timely geospatial data on the SDGs through datasets, storytelling, educational & training resources.
关于我们
Professor Jeffrey Sachs launched SDGs Today, an initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), at the High Level Political Forum in 2020 with support from Esri and the National Geographic Society. SDGs Today aims to advance the production and use of timely and geospatial data for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program offers training resources to support governments, academics and youth to produce, share and engage with the innovative data and GIS to help ensure that we meet the global goals by 2030. #GEOGRAPHY2050 hosted by the American Geographical Society was full of interesting talks on #climate #migration & resiliency that gave us hope for the future ?? Congrats to our colleagues Alex de Sherbinin, PhD, Esri, Exploring Ocean Iron Solutions - ExOIS, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory discussing their own research and #solutions! ?? We especially loved ending the week w/ our #POPGRID partner Oak Ridge National Laboratory & their future #NRT 90m gridded #population data! This output would benefit the 98 #SDG indicators that rely on population #data, and is the type of innovation that we strive to advance?? Thank you, UNDP, for hosting such thought-provoking panel discussions! ?? Here are a few key takeaways from the event: 1? What does localizing #data mean for harnessing #AI in the Global South to address regional challenges & promote equitable development? 2? How can we ensure that AI does not exacerbate existing gender and digital divides? 3? Who gets to make decisions about AI development & ensure diverse voices are included in the process? 4? Will promoting AI literacy enhance access to education & essential services for marginalized communities, fostering greater participation in the digital economy?
