?? "Very happy to wrap up our third run of the Scientometrics with Open Data Course. With 21 participants from across Europe, Japan and Malaysia we dug into the state of open data sources and how to use them. Lots of ideas to take forward and growing this community". - Cameron Neylon CWTS | Leiden University | Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI) Bianca Kramer | Nees Jan van Eck

With the rising interest in open data for research evaluation now is the time to get up to speed on what is possible. Along with CWTS | Leiden University and Bianca Kramer, Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI) is contributing to the third edition of our course on Scientometrics Using Open Data. The first two editions were very popular. We cover data sources, strategic issues on how to get the best out of them, and an introduction to the technical means to achieve that. Suitable for library professionals, knowledge and research support, research managers and research leadership, as well as researchers interested in getting into the scientometrics space. The course is scheduled over four mornings in European time so are afternoon/evening for Australasia and East Asia but do-able. Also let us know if there is interest in having the course run in a UTC+8-UTC+11 timezone! https://lnkd.in/ggEGT-SA

?? We are coming into the last day of this edition of the Scientometrics with Open Data course! ?? We’ve tackled the (complex!) landscape of data sources, worked with APIs, hopefully demystified some of the tech, and finished up yesterday doing large scale comparisons of what is in OpenAlex and what outputs were included in the Leiden Ranking Open Edition. ? Looking forward to today’s session, hearing from some of the participants on their projects and discussing what comes next for #OpenData, #ResponsibleEvaluation and #Scientometrics.
