I am so proud of my students for another outstanding showing at the South Carolina ProStart Student Invitational—winning 1st Place in the Restaurant Management Competition for the second in a year! We head to Baltimore in May for the ProStart Program National Invitational where they will represent our great state of South Carolina! I am so proud of how hard they worked to achieve this success, but the hard work doesn’t stop here we are working towards even greater things when we hit the floor at nationals!

Exciting news for South Carolina’s ProStart program! The state has grown from 56 to 59 programs this year, with total student enrollment surpassing 4,000 for the first time. For the 2024-2025 school year, 4,417 students are participating, marking an impressive increase of 2,080 students over the past five years. Notably, 85.7% of the programs now offer ServSafe certification, ensuring students are well-prepared for careers in the industry. Additionally, 20% of South Carolina ProStart students are currently employed in hospitality, rising from 657 students last year to 889 this year. These numbers highlight the growing impact and success of ProStart in shaping the future of South Carolina’s hospitality workforce.
