Happy National Veteran's Small Business Week! In honor of #NVSBW24, we'd like to highlight Veteran-Owned company, Ethic Tech, LLC. Kevin Long is the owner and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Ethic Tech, LLC, a City of Huntsville, AL-based small business that is both Native American 8(a) and Veteran-Owned. Kevin's service as an officer in the US Army National Guard, he has been deployed twice in the last seven years: once to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) and more recently to Europe for Operation Trident Ready (OTR) with the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine (JMTGU), reflecting his commitment to both his business and his country. Ethic Tech was founded in 2014, and the company initially focused on Information Technology (IT) and Physical Security solutions. Over time, Ethic Tech has expanded its offerings, including IT & Cybersecurity, Base Operations Support, Engineering, and Professional Services, partly through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. As part of its growth strategy, Ethic Tech made two small business acquisitions, one of which was supported by an SBA 7(a) loan in 2021. This expansion led to the company’s relocation to a larger facility that same year, tripling its square footage. The company has since broadened its client base, securing contracts with multiple Federal agencies and extending its reach to a dozen states and four countries. In addition to these efforts, Ethic Tech leverages resources from the UAH SBDC and APEX Accelerator to strengthen its government contracting activities. The company is also involved in various industry events, such as the National 8(a) Conference and the NVSBC VETS Conference, to stay updated on industry developments and connect with government buyers and industry peers. In 2024, Kevin and Ethic Tech was recognized as the winner of the Alabama Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year award, an honor celebrated on his behave during National Small Business Week while he was deployed. These strategic actions have enabled Ethic Tech to significantly grow its operations and client base. Kevin’s leadership has supported the company’s ability to expand its service offerings and secure contracts in diverse regions. Through active participation in community organizations and ongoing professional development. Ethic Tech contributes to the broader community including Kids to Love, Meals on Wheels, veteran organizations, the American Heart Association, and the National Children’s Advocacy Center.
