Hot off the presses, another example of how scammers are moving beyond just basic links and trying to get their victims talking on the phone. While more work, once they have you on the phone scammers are far more likely to succeed as they can use emotion to drive victims to make mistakes. At some point AI will simply automate these "call-back" attacks. This is why I'm starting to push for moving away from training on just "Phishing" to training on "Social Engineering". We have become better at training people on email based attacks, but at the cost that many people may start to believe attacks only happen over email (which is also precisely why cyber attackers may be shifting to more Voice / Text based attacks). #securityawareness #securityculture #vishing #smishing #phishing SANS Security Awareness
