Cordia Energy Center San Francisco has partnered with UC Law San Francisco to provide steam service to the historic 100 McAllister Tower! Important seismic updates and renovations can continue without the costly and disruptive process of upgrading the building’s electric service.

UC Law San Francisco is proud to support the talents of Tenderloin youth. The Academic Village is hosting the Spring Art Show, presented by the local youth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Tenderloin?Clubhouse. All the art was created by young artists age 10-16 who live in the Tenderloin. ?UC Law SF and the Clubhouse held an Opening Event for the show Feb. 21, bringing the young artists and their families to 198 McAllister, where multiple higher education institutions have programming and classes. UC Law San Francisco recently partnered with Redaptive, Inc to install solar panels on campus, resulting in significant energy production. UC Law SF’s sustainability efforts help ensure the campus is prepared to serve generations of students to come. The electricity produced will avoid 1.2k metric tons of CO2 emissions over the next 20 years — the equivalent to the emissions from 261 homes or 3.1k barrels of oil. And, our campus will be saving money on utility bills. #sustainability #solarenergy

UC Law San Francisco 3L Emma Adams collaborated with the Tenderloin Museum for a pop-up exhibit that highlights some of the moments, people, and legal histories that have shaped the quest for LGBTQ+ rights. “I was honored to collaborate with the museum to create a walking gallery highlighting the resilience, courage, and influence of the LGBTQ+ community through artwork and narrative storytelling. The research and writing I did provided a look at the historical influence of the LGBTQ+ rights movement through the legal battles that continue to shape our country today,” said Adams, who will graduate this spring from UC Law SF. The historic 100 McAllister Tower is getting a seismic upgrade — watch as 1,500 steel components are installed to support the building before the existing core demolition.

The latest article in our 100 McAllister series, linked below, focuses on structural and seismic upgrades to the existing building, which has been the starting point and driving force for this project to date. As we see California's resilience tested by natural disasters and climate events with increasing frequency, we must prioritize proactive strategies to build resilience and limit risk before avoidable damage occurs. The risk of a disastrous seismic event in the Bay Area is a real possibility that we live with daily; seismic retrofits that meet applicable standards for use and location are a crucial step towards protecting existing buildings and the communities they serve. UC Law SF students will be serving hot meals to guests at St. Anthony's on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. St. Anthony’s serves more than 1,000 meals daily to help provide nutritious food and build connections — an essential service as nearly one in two adults living in the Tenderloin face food insecurity. UC Law SF’s legacy of service continues thanks to the many students who participate in the Pro Bono Program. Our unique location in central San Francisco allows students to gain practical skills and meaningfully engage with the community on a range of issues, including fighting evictions, seeking asylum, challenging sentences of death, and set up socially-focused businesses. UC Law San Francisco’s collaborative Academic Village is contributing to the transformation and revitalization of San Francisco’s urban core. Students and professionals from UC Law SF and nearby schools, including UCSF, UC Davis, University of San Francisco, University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry, and others, living, learning, and working together can drive innovation and economic growth.
