Struggling to determine competitive OTE (on-target earnings) for your #Salesblazers? Here’s a simple 4-step process to calculate OTE that brings in (and retains) the best talent: 1. Determine base pay - Research industry standards and competitor offerings. 2. Establish sales quotas - Find the sweet spot between revenue goals and selling capacity. 3. Set commissions - Consider goal difficulty and time required when deciding commission amounts. 4. Add it up - Use this formula: Annual base salary + annual commission at 100% quota = OTE For example: $65,000 base + $20,000 commission = $85,000 OTE The ideal OTE mix? 65% base, 35% commission. But adjust based on your specific needs: ? 50/50 for aggressive growth ? 70/30 for customer success roles ? 90/10 for support staff A well-designed OTE plan attracts top talent, motivates performance, and helps with financial forecasting.
