Large scale hydrogen production has been safely operating for decades. But, with the increased demand for hydrogen as a fuel for fuel cell electric vehicles including cars, buses and trucks, small scale hydrogen production facilities are becoming more common. Whether they are based on existing technologies or designed to fit specific spaces and needs, these small-scale hydrogen production facilities bring the source of hydrogen closer to fueling stations to meet local demand. Great article to kick off #NationalHydrogenDay from the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy. We would just add one bullet that hydrogen has been safely produced, transported, and used in the US for about 70 years! Today hydrogen is poised to drive everything from power generation to air transport, shipping, mobility, and infrastructure.

Hydrogen is a clean and efficient energy carrier. However, because hydrogen is a flammable gas, it's important to handle it with care to ensure safety. Hydrogen is stored in high-pressure cylinders or tubes, and it is important to ensure that these storage containers are properly maintained and inspected.
