We’re at the cusp of one of the biggest transformations in history – the shift to a hydrogen economy. Hydrogen is poised to drive everything from power generation to air transport, shipping, mobility, and infrastructure. Two things are essential to making this vast new hydrogen energy network function – safety, and interoperability; and CGA’s Safe Hydrogen Project sits at the intersection of those two imperatives. We’ve been writing hydrogen safety standards for more than 70 years, and we’re continuing to write new standards today to meet the needs of the new economy. Our standards will make sure that each individual piece of the new hydrogen economy, from production to storage to delivery to application, works together as a seamless, interoperable, and interconnected network. Our work is vital to making the hydrogen economy a reality.

Today the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), on behalf of over 110 signatories, delivered a letter to our Congressional leadership urging support for the Section 45V Production Tax Credit.?The letter’s signatories represent the full breadth of the hydrogen industry—spanning associations, business groups, Hydrogen Hubs, and corporate entities—all united in a common cause. ? While FCHEA initiated and led this effort, we are deeply grateful for the way so many companies and trade associations selflessly pitched in to make this letter a reality. ? By delivering this letter to Capitol Hill, we have spoken with one voice and unambiguously delivered a powerful message to our elected officials: robust and stable federal incentives are essential for a thriving hydrogen industry in the U.S. ? The job is just beginning, and we look forward to continuing to work with FCHEA’s members and industry partners to ensure that our collective advocacy and outreach continue to protect these critical incentives. Statement from our partner, Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA) on the U.S. Department of Treasury Final Guidance on 45V.
Today, the U.S. Department of Treasury final guidance published on the hydrogen production tax credit (§45V). FCHEA President and CEO Frank Wolak issued the following statement in response: ? “After years of strategic engagement and persistent advocacy, the issuance of this Final Rule now affords project developers the basis for evaluating opportunities to scale clean hydrogen deployments. ? The administration made significant improvements and considered industry feedback in several instances when crafting this final rule compared to the initial proposal, including the delayed implementation of hourly matched accounting for electrolytic hydrogen, support for more sources of renewable natural gas (RNG), removal of the first productive use requirement for RNG, among other changes. ? However, this rule is still extremely complex and will require intense evaluation by project developers to understand all the nuances and how they will apply to their specific facilities.?There are also multiple areas where implementation and timing will be up to the incoming Trump-Vance Administration. ? ?This issuance of Final Rules closes a long chapter, and now the industry can look forward to conversations with the new Congress and new Administration regarding how federal tax and energy policy can most effectively advance the development of hydrogen in the US.?“ ?
