Meet another one of our #RisingStars, Luiza Santos! Born and raised in Brazil, she has always felt connected to nature. Her commitment to sustainability and responsible innovation aligns with her current role at SABIC as a product engineer. Luiza earned a bachelor of science in material engineering from Federal University of S?o Carlos. During her time in undergrad, she also studied abroad in Germany. She went on to earn a master’s in material science and engineering with an emphasis in biodegradable polymeric films at her alma mater. At SABIC, she’s instrumental in developing innovative projects that aim to enhance both product efficiency and sustainability. Recognizing the importance of sustainable practices, Luiza leads the sustainability committee at the Campinas site in Brazil. She believes that plastics are not just a material of the present but are essential for a sustainable future, especially when utilized responsibly. “As a society, we need to change our relationship with plastic and give it the value it deserves by fostering the circular economy, recycling, and more,” she states. Additionally, she encourages people, especially women, to join the industry and advocates for companies to invest in creating a more inclusive environment. Outside of trailblazing at work, Luiza enjoys traveling, listing her top three destinations as Fernando de Noronha, South Africa, and Sweden. She is an example that dedication to both your personal and professional goals can lead to a fulfilling and impactful career. Learn more about Luiza: https://lnkd.in/dpbuCZaR
