Rubberized Asphalt Technologies

The next generation dry process technologies for manufacturing rubberized asphalt are very easy to use at the mix plant, simplifying the beneficial reuse of recycled tire rubber. Liberty’s SmartMIX goes a step further to pre-react and preswelled the rubber powder additive so that there is no delay from mixing to placement, or extra cure time following compaction. SmartMIX uses recycled rubber from about one end of life tire per ton of asphalt mix. Several agencies in AL have been leading the way to demonstrate the practicality and benefits of the innovative technology that we call SmartMIX. The Michigan Market Development program uses the scrap tire fees to help counties try rubberized asphalt technologies. Several counties have discovered the benefits of the heavy duty asphalt rubber chip seals that can hold a cracked road surface together where a conventional chip seal can not. One county used a chip seal as an underlayer before paving with a rubberized hot mix. Recycled tire rubber can provide more tools to county engineers to maintain and restore road quality. https://lnkd.in/gmh6X6nt
