Last week, Lifera had the distinct honor of participating in the #Riyadh_Global_Medical_Biotechnology_Summit_2024, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and graced by the presence of HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bandar Al Saud, Minister of National Guard. Our CEO, Jeremy Thomas, contributed to the discussions, sharing his expertise in two impactful sessions: ? " Fueling Biotech Advancements: The Critical Role of Investments”, hosted by Mr. Abdulrahman Alolayan, CEO & Founder of Beta Lab with other panelists HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed, Founder and CEO, KBW Ventures, and Mr. Mehmood Khan, CEO of Hevolution Foundation, who provided key insights into the evolving global investment landscape in biotechnology and emphasized the opportunities available for Saudi Arabia. ? “Accelerating Biotech Innovation: Unlocking Potential through Strategic Alliances,” moderated by our CEO.?Thank you to the panel members Mr. Adam Margolin, CEO of Flashpoint Therapeutics, Mr. Mohamed Nasser, General Manager of Amgen MEA, Mr. J?rg-Michael Rupp Head of Roche Pharma International and President of Interpharma at Roche, Switzerland, and Mr. Zisis Kozlakidis Head of Laboratory Services and Biobanking at IARC - International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization who highlighted how global collaborations and technology transfer can drive innovation, with a special focus on the role of local talent and infrastructure in fostering international partnerships.?Key recommendations made from the panel included (1) potentially having specific local content incentives for IP as well as for technology transfer, (2) establishing cross entity biological data harmonization and sharing regimes, (3) providing matching funding for clinical trials based on preferred therapeutic areas or stages of trial (4) enabling one-stop partnering solutions for fast track BLA’s, clinical trial enablement and research funding and (5) leveraging long-term purchase agreements and tiered formulary incentives to enable improved access to advanced therapeutics and to promote local manufacturing and R&D. In addition, the Lifera team was proud to showcase our mission and initiatives as exhibitors, connecting with attendees eager to learn more about our contributions to the biotech ecosystem. We were also deeply honored to receive recognition from His Excellency Dr. Bandar Alknawy, MD, FRCPC, FRCP (edin) CEO of Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA) Health Affairs, during the closing ceremony—a testament to our commitment to advancing biotechnology in Saudi Arabia.
